Durham Regional Police – Five Arrested After Fleeing Police Following Armed Robbery

One male adult and four male youth are in custody after an armed robbed at a pharmacy in Pickering.

 On Thursday, January 18, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of West Division responded to an armed robbery call at the Guardian Drug Store located at 1298 Kingston Road, in Pickering.  Four males entered the pharmacy, one armed with a gun, demanding access to the store safe. The males stole narcotics and cash before fleeing in a waiting white Chevrolet four-door sedan.

 Police located the suspect vehicle entering the westbound 401 Highway.  The suspect vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen out of Peel Region on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. With the assistance of the Robbery Unit, K9 Unit, Tactical Support Unit, and York Regional Police Service’s Air2, the suspect vehicle was strategically followed to the Allenby Avenue and Hadrian Drive area in Toronto.  The suspect vehicle was abandoned near a walking path and the five suspects fled on foot.  Police located and arrested all suspects a short distance away, without incident.

 Ajhawn CHAMBERS, age 19 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Robbery Using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Point Firearm, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

 A 15-year-old male from Toronto is charged with: Robbery Using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.

 A 15-year-old male from Whitby is charged with: Robbery Using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.

 A 17-year-old male from Toronto is charged with: Robbery Using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.

 A 17-year-old male from Toronto is charged with: Robbery Using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.

 All males were held for a bail hearing.
