Three local athletes took part in a CrossFit competition called “Wodapalooza” in Miami, Florida January 11-14, 2024. Pictured below are Weldon Spears, Bud Tinney (co-owner of CrossFit Cobourg) and Andrew Winsor who completed countless hours of training in order to qualify to compete in this competition.

Qualifying for these types of competitions not only takes skill, it also takes hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport on a daily basis.

Many of the events were for time which means they have a specific set of movements to perform in the shortest amount of time; while others were considered an “AMRAP” meaning as many reps as possible in a pre-determined amount of time. To make it even more challenging, some movements had to be done by 2 of the team athletes synchronized with each other.

40 teams in their division qualified to attend this event and this team of local athletes finished in 8th place!
