Update – Cobourg Police – Theft Investigation Update (Names Released)

Three Brampton residents face charges after police responded to a business on Strathy Road.

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to a business parking lot on Strathy Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle where the occupants were believed to be involved in a theft from a neighbouring business.

The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee and made intentional contact with a police vehicle and other vehicles in the parking lot. Police were able to pin the car and took the three occupants into custody. None of the suspects or officers were injured.

As a result of further police investigation, Manjinder CHAHAL, a 24-year-old Brampton man, was charged with Dangerous Operation, Operation while impaired – alcohol and drug, and Fraudulent concealment contrary to section 341 of the Criminal Code.

Ravneet KAUR, a 25-year-old Brampton woman, was charged with obstructing a peace officer.

Mandeep SINGH, a 26-year-old Brampton man, CHAHAL, and KAUR were jointly charged with two counts of Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (heroin, methamphetamine), two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, Theft Over $5,000, and Possession of Forged Document.

KAUR was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing. CHAHAL and SINGH were released on Undertakings with future court dates.
