Barking Good Time at the Annual Castleton Santa Claus Pet Parade

In Community, Local

Castleton’s 8th annual Santa Claus Pet Parade took place on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Approximately 80 animals took part in the much loved parade.

The parade kicked off at 2 p.m. with the miniature horse team of Teddy and Tommy leading the way from Northumberland Hills Public School.

As of Saturday evening there were 70 dogs, 12 horses, three donkeys, eight goats and three sheep registered for the event.

Justin’s Pet Store was handing out treat bags for the dogs and there was hot apple cider courtesy of Moore’s along with hot chocolate and Christmas baking goods at the Castleton Town Hall at the conclusion of the parade.

Kevin Foster who is a certified vet technician volunteered his time in case there were any mishaps along the way.

Although the event was free, all donations went to Primrose Donkey Sanctuary.
