Northumberland OPP – Youth Facing Charges Including Possession of Child Pornography

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges relating to child pornography after a ten-month investigation.

On January 24, 2023, the Northumberland OPP were dispatched to a property in the Municipality of Brighton where reports of non-consensual distribution of intimate images were provided. At that point, an investigation was initiated which spanned approximately ten months.

On November 22, 2023, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested a 16-year-old from Brighton as a result of the investigation.

The individual, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was charged with the following:

  • Possession of child pornography</SP an>
  • Voyeurism
  • Distributing intimate images without consent – two counts
  • Obtaining property by false pretence under $5000 – two counts.
