Video – World Polio Day Honoured in Cobourg

World Polio Day was honoured in Cobourg with a flag raising in front of Victoria Hall on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Cobourg Rotary President Peter Dounokos along with Rotarian Dr. Bob Scott raised the flag with a number of Rotarians and Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty taking part in the ceremony.

Dr. Scott is a world leader in the eradication of polio.

In 2006, he began his term as chair of the International PolioPlus Committee and has received worldwide accolades for his tireless dedication including the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, the International Service Award for a Polio-Free World, and the Four Avenues of Service Citation. He has been named an outstanding leader in polio eradication by the United Nations Foundation and has received the Glenn Sawyer Service Award from the Ontario Medical Association for professional and community achievement.
