In Local

Unconfirmed reports have stated Scotiabank in Northumberland Mall will be closing next year.

Employees at the bank were told on Thursday, October 19, 2023 and the public will be informed on Friday.

The bank has been a fixture in the Mall for many years and the final day will be March 31, 2024.

Today’s Northumberland has reached out to several individuals including Northumberland Mall and Scotiabank to confirm.

The Canadian Press reported on Thursday that Scotiabank is, “cutting about three percent of its global workforce as a result of changes at the bank and customers day-to-day banking preferences, as well as ongoing efforts to streamline operations.”

More details are expected to be released on Friday.
