Durham Police – Twelve-Year-Old Tasered After Allegedly Assaulting Three Staff Members and Student

A 12-year-old female is facing numerous charges after assaulting three staff members and a fellow student at a school in Oshawa. 

 

On Monday, September 18, 2023, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members from Central East responded to Sir Albert Love Catholic School located at 425 Wilson Road North in Oshawa for reports of a female student actively assaulting staff and students.  Officers arrived on scene to conduct an investigation. The female involved fled and was located physically assaulting a female staff member in the school yard. An officer deployed a CEW device to stop the assault and the suspect was taken into custody. The event was captured on Body Worn Camera.

 

One victim was transported to hospital after being struck in the head.

 

A 12-year-old female from Oshawa has been charged with; Assault x4 and Mischief.

She was released on an Undertaking.


Investigators have been in communication with the school board as well as a parent of the student who was charged.

 

The Durham Regional Police are currently conducting a thorough review of the event to ensure it aligns with our policies, best practices and prioritizes community safety.
