Update – OPP Assisting Port Hope Police with Investigation of Stolen Vehicle

Male Arrested with Stolen Vehicle

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a male in connection with an incident that injured a Port Hope Police (PHPS) officer.

On July 30, 2023, OPP members were called to assist with an investigation in the Town of Port Hope that left a PHPS member injured.

On July 31, 2023, shortly after 5:30 a.m., members of the Northumberland OPP arrested Jordan DENNY, 30-years-old of Cobourg, Ontario. He has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation o f a vehicle – two counts
  • Flight From Police
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
