Car Fire Shuts Down Busy Intersection in Cobourg

The intersection of University Avenue and Division Street was closed for approximately one hour on Thursday, June 22, 2023 as Cobourg Fire Department dealt with a vehicle fire.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. firefighters responded to the intersection for reports of a vehicle fire.  The vehicle was heading south on Division Street when the engine caught fire.  Efforts were made to put out the fire using extinguishers while the fire department was called.

Cobourg Police cordoned off the area and re-routed traffic.  When fire crews arrived on scene, the front of the car was engulfed.

The vehicle was destroyed, but there were no injuries and no cause of the fire.
