In Local

Cramahe Township announced on June 21, 2023 for the delivery of water services for the village of Colborne.

Current provider Aquatech will be concluding its contract with Cramahe Township and will work with LUSI on the transition of services, to take effect June 21, 2023. LUSI will manage service delivery on an interim basis.

“As we conclude our service arrangement with Aquatech by mutual agreement, Colborne residents can expect a seamless transition and the provision of high-quality water services during this interim period,” states Mayor Mandy Martin.

“Ensuring access to clean, safe water for our community is a core tenant of township operations. Council is confident that LUSI has the experience, expertise, and local context to deliver this
mandate.

LUSI operates multiple water systems in Northumberland County, including systems for the Town of Cobourg, the Township of Hamilton, and the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The company’s focus is to treat and distribute water to residents and businesses, ensuring the water is safe for consumption by adhering to stringent regulatory compliance and guidelines.
Colborne residents using municipal water services will receive monthly billing from LUSI for the June cycle, onwards. The May billing cycle will be the final cycle for payment to
Aquatech.

Residents are advised to continue making payments to Aquatech for the current water bill up until the due date of July 4th, 2023. Any payments after that due date must be made to the Township directly. Accepted payment methods are cash, debit and cheque.

All pre-authorized payments setup by Aquatech for water billing will also be cancelled after July 4th, 2023.

Cramahe Township and LUSI are hosting a Meet and Greet at the Colborne Municipal Building, 1 Toronto St., Colborne., for residents to meet Township and LUSI officials, ask questions and learn more about water services.

This event will take place on Thursday June 29th, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
