Vehicle Collides with Parked School Bus in Cobourg

In Police Blotter

One person was taken to hospital after a car slammed into a parked school bus in Cobourg on Monday, May 1, 2023.

At approximately 8 p.m. emergency services were notified of a collision on Elgin Street at the YMCA Northumberland parking lot.

A vehicle travelling eastbound on Elgin Street went onto the lawn at the vehicle entrance to the YMCA Northumberland, went across the grass, struck a bench at a bus stop and slammed into a parked school bus.

The collision was so hard that it broke the axle on the school bus.

The driver’s side air bag on the car was also deployed.

The driver of the vehicle who was the lone occupant was taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Had the school bus not been parked where it was, the vehicle likely would have collided with a house.

Cobourg Police are continuing their investigation.
