Cobourg Police – Witnesses Sought Following Shooting

The Cobourg Police Service is investigating a shooting that occurred earlier today after the victim attended an area hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.

On March 7, 2023, at 4:30 a.m., police responded to a call from hospital staff in relation to a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, police were advised that someone had dropped an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound at the hospital.

The man was transported to a Toronto area trauma center via ambulance with critical injuries.

The investigation is in the early stages and investigators believe that this was not a random incident. Police are currently investigating to determine where and how the incident occurred.

Anyone with information or who was in the area of the hospital with dash cam footage is asked to contact police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by phone by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or online by visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as information becomes available
