Port Hope Home Suffers Extensive Damage After Early Morning Fire

A home suffered major damaged following an early morning fire in Port Hope.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to a home on Lavinia Street.

When crews arrived on location, the rear of the home and deck were engulfed in flames and the fire was quickly spreading to the roof.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the flames, but the home suffered major damage.

The are four adults and three children that live in the home.

Damage is estimated at approximately $500,000 and the cause of the fire is believed to have started from a chiminea.

The neighbours home also suffered damage from the radiant heat and embers.
