Cobourg Police – Person Charged with Theft, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Fail to Comply (No Name Released)

A man has been charged with theft after police received a report of theft in the Town of Cobourg.

On Monday, July 18, 2022, at 5:35 p.m., police responded to a report that an unknown individual had stolen a backpack containing personal property from the area of Queen Street and McGill Street in Cobourg.

As a result of the police investigation, a 48-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Theft under $5,000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

2. Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Fail to comply with probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

All items were returned to the victim. The man was released with a future court date on August 31, 2022.
