Northumberland OPP, Cobourg Police, OFM Investigating Three Suspicious Overnight Fires

Two investigators with the Office of the Marshal have arrived on scene to begin their examination of three suspicious fires that happened in the early morning hours of Friday, July 15, 2022.

At this point one investigators is examining the scene at the Dale Road fire and the other investigator is examining the scene of the Albert Street fire in Cobourg.

 

Northumberland OPP – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the circumstances surrounding a structure fire that occurred on Dale Rd in Hamilton Township.

On Friday, July 15, 2022, at approximately 12:47 a.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about a structure fire occurring at an address on Dale Rd in Hamilton Township. The structure is believed to be uninhabited.

The Ontario Fire Marshall is conducting an investigation, while the Northumberland OPP w ork with the Cobourg Police Service to determine if there is a link with respect to two fires that occurred overnight in the Town of Cobourg.

The Northumberland OPP is asking for the public’s assistance with this ongoing investigation and would ask that anyone with information to call their nearest OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call the Peterborough/Northumberland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 and not have to appear in court. Cobourg Police – Police are investigating the circumstances of two overnight fires in the Town of Cobourg.
On Friday, July 15, 2022, just after 3:30 a.m., Cobourg Police Service and Cobourg Fire Department responded to a structure at 93 Albert Street, Cobourg. Shortly after, police and fire services responded to a second structure fire at 664 Ontario Street, Cobourg.

Cobourg Police Service, in collaboration with the Ontario Fire Marshall, is investigating the circumstances of the fires in the Town of Cobourg and working with the Ontario Provincial Police to see if there is a link to a third fire that occurred overnight in Hamilton Township.

Anyone with information or video surveillance footage of Albert Street and Ontario Street in Cobourg is asked to contact police at 905-372-6821 extension 2202 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.stopcrimehere.ca.

Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
