In City Hall

The Town of Cobourg and Experience Cobourg are thrilled to bring back the Waterfront Festival for the Canada Day weekend, Councillor Adam Bureau said at this week’s council meeting.

It kicks off Friday with the traditional Canada Day Parade along King Street, followed by all-day entertainment at the bandshell and fireworks over the harbour at 10 p.m.

“I encourage everyone to hop onto one of the complimentary shuttles with free parking at Northumberland Mall and the Cobourg Community Centre – and one bus will be accessible,” Bureau said.

Deputy Mayor Suzanne Seguin noted that admission to the Waterfront Festival is free this year.

“As as Rotarian, I will be working all three days at the door, so I hope to say hello to many residents coming back to the waterfront, and Happy Canada Day to everyone,” Seguin said.

The Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce will host their traditional pancake breakfast all three days, Bureau added.

“Tickets are not necessary – just show up.”

And when all the hoopla is over, he continued, another beloved summer tradition returns – bandshell concerts each Tuesday evening in July and August, courtesy of the Concert Band of Cobourg.
