Two New By-Laws Up for Approval in Cobourg

In City Hall

Two new by-laws will be up for approval on Monday, June 27, 2022 in Cobourg.

It looks like Cobourg will be getting an anti-idling by-law shortly.

The by-law will restrict idling to a period of two minutes, but there are exemptions for emergency services along with vehicles in drive thru’s and delivery vehicles with refrigerator units.

The fines will be $60.00 for cause or commit idling for more than two-minutes and for contravening the order is $100.00.

There will also be amendments to the smoking by-law which will restrict cannabis, e-cigarettes and vaping in town parks and on the beach.

There are exceptions for medical use as well as for Indigenous people for sacred tobacco.

The fine is $105.00.

Both will be up for approval on Monday, June 27 at the next regular council meeting.
