10th Annual Warkworth Lilac Festival Kicks Off With Special Guest

Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell kicked off the annual Warkworth Lilac Festival on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

The Lieutenant Governor strolled through downtown Warkworth with Municipality of Trent Hills Mayor Bob Crate before arriving at the Millennium Lilac Trail.

Organizers of the Lilac Festival explained to the Lieutenant Governor the various varieties of lilac as the group of dignitaries travelled along the trail.

At the east end of the Trail, the Lieutenant Governor planted a new while lilac, called an Avalanche to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration.

Each year visitors stroll along the trail taking in a number of crafts and displays and also learning about lilacs from display boards.
