In Local

The Town of Cobourg has announced a return visit by production company G2G Series 2 Inc. From April 18 to 22 for filming on the second season of the Netflix TV series Ginny & Georgia.

Along with some street scenes on King Street from Second to Hibernia, filming will take place in front of Victoria Hall (55 King St. W.) as well as in the building’s lobby and Concert Hall. During this time, residents will see American flags flying in case of Canadian ones at Victoria Hall.

On the two filming days (Wednesday, April 20, and Thursday, April 21), there will be no front-door access to Victoria Hall. Members of the public are asked to use the east and west back doors. Access to the Art Gallery of Northumberland will be through the back door on the west side of the building.

The town’s Community Events Co-ordinator is working closely with the production company, which will send about 120 crew members, 100 background performers and 40 production trucks. Filming preparations will take place April 18 and 19, followed by filming April 20 and 21 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., then tear-down on April 22.

The town announces temporary road closures and traffic stoppages on April 20 and 21. These include intermittent stoppages on King Street West from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., as well as the closure of King Street West between Hibernia and Division from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. (local access only). Third Street between King and Albert will also be closed from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Cobourg Police Services will be working directly with the production company to ensure safety and traffic control.

Parking will be required for the film production vehicles, which will use the lot behind Victoria Hall, Albert Street Lot #6 (both north and south), the McGill Street lot and metered parking spaces on the west side of Second Street, the west side of Third Street, McGill Street, Queen Street, Church Street and various spots on King Street. G2G Series 2 Inc. Will pay for all the time in which these parking meters will be put out of use.

Ginny & Georgia is a mother-daughter coming-of-age series starring Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howy (of The Passage). “Ginny” is 15-year-old Ginny Miller, who often feels more mature than her free-spirited 30-year-old mother Georgia.

The first season of this series was watched by more than 52-million Netflix subscribers in its first 28 days, and the series made the Top 10 list in 87 countries around the world.

This local filming for its second season has the support of both the Town of Cobourg and the Downtown Business Improvement Area, and G2G Series Inc. thanks you for your co-operation and consideration during this filming period.
