Community Care Northumberland is pleased to announce the third annual Handbags For Hospice benefit for Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre April 21 at the Cobourg Lion’s Community Centre.

This event brings the community together for an evening of entertainment, delicious food and the chance to bid on a wide selection of handbags and experiences – a night of fun, fashion and friends that has become a signature event for many Ontario hospices.

Ed’s House Special Events Committee Chair Nancy Oliver says her group has been very busy putting things together. They will welcome back Joel Scott and York Bell-Smith an emcees for an evening of glamourous handbags, a live and silent auction, and delicious hors d’oeuvres, all with a refreshing spring theme.

“We are excited to have an in-person event once again, with a large selection of handbags to bid on, a live and silent auction, and the chance to purchase a golden ticket to win two tickets anywhere Westjet flies in the world,” Oliver said in the announcement.

Community Care Northumberland Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird said she is proud that Handbags For Hospice has become a signature event in this community in support of the important work of Ed’s House.

“Every year we are challenged with raising close to a million dollars to support the operations of Ed’s House,” Baird said.

“This event has a goal to raise $75,000 and, thanks to the efforts of the Special Events Committee and the tremendous support of the community, we look forward to raising these much-needed funds.”

Handbags For Hospice tickets are $75, and can be reserved by calling the Ed’s House Donor Relations and Communications Office at 905-885-0466. Tables of eight are available. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the evening begins at 7 p.m.

The generosity of the community with sponsorships and donations is vital to its success. The event’s Signature Sponsor is Tony Pulla of Re-Max Lakeshore Realty, and the Pearl Sponsor is Jacqueline Pennington of Re/Max Hallmark.

Platinum Sponsors are Quantrill Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac and Acme Electric.
