Quinte West OPP – Driver Charged Following Traffic Stop

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual after a traffic stop was conducted in Trenton.

On February 23, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Quinte West OPP conducting generals patrols observed a vehicle stopped in a live lane on McGill Street in Trenton. Officers spoke with the driver, and while doing so observed open containers of alcohol within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and the driver resulted in a quantity of suspected c ocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia being seized. As a result, the driver was arrested.

Lawrence HAMILTON, 51 years old of Trenton has been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule one substance, cocaine and methamphetamine and with having care and control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 21, 2022.
