City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Arrest Made After Fail to Remain Collision

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest after a driver failed to remain at the scene of a collision.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on February 23, 2022, officers were called to the scene of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of 7A and Nelston Road in Manvers Township. One of the drivers had left the scene and was located by a citizen in the area who called police.

As a result of the investigation, Jack PHILLIPS, 56 years of age, of Manvers Township, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Drive motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

·        Fail to remain

The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days and the accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay, on March 17, 2022.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers. Impaired drivers continue to threaten the safety and lives of all road users. If you cannot drive sober, don’t drive. If you suspect an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
