Peterborough County OPP – Snowmobiler Facing Impaired Charge

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motorized snow vehicle (MSV) while patrolling Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail E108 at approximately 1:30pm yesterday afternoon. The operator was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Jeno EPPEL (age 60) of Port Perry, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 15, 2022.

Officers will continue to patrol our roadways and trails and those drivers found impaired by alcohol or drugs will have a date in criminal court, have their driver’s license suspended immediately for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Police are reminding operators to exercise caution while enjoying their recreational vehicles. This includes wearing proper safety equipment, being aware of their surroundings, and knowing their own limitations and abilities.
