Port Hope Police Constable Tammie Staples is “over the moon” happy with the success of this years Tammies Jammies.
Working in a training room at the Port Hope Police Station on Monday, December 13, 2021, you couldn’t take the smile off her face if you tried.
“I can’t explain how happy I am this year.”
“The outpour of jammies has been unbelievable.”
Staples said each year since its inception the number of jammies donated has increased.
Last year’s it was 425 pairs of jammies and this year it will easily surpass that will all of the jammies going to the Highland Shores Children’s Aid for every child in care to wake up with a near pair of pj’s.
Staples started the drive approximately five-years ago inspired by memories of her parents and her twin sisters open one present each Christmas Eve. It was always a new pair of pajamas.
Staples has never forgot that memory of going to sleep with a new pair of warm pajamas and is so thankful for the community of Port Hope and beyond to help each year.
As she was folding them placing them in bags to give to Highland Shores Children’s Aid should couldn’t help but think of the children and the smile on their faces when they receive the present.
“It’s a lot of work, but definitely a lot of fun. Especially with the help of the community and around – it’s incredible.”
“It’s definitely gone along way.”
Pajamas can be dropped off at the Port Hope Police Station up until December 20.
