Cobourg Police – Two People Facing Numerous Charges Including Arson

Two people are facing numerous charges after a fire on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Cobourg.

At approximately 8:45 am Cobourg Fire Department and Cobourg Police were dispatched the area south of Sinclair Park in Cobourg.

Police arrived on scene and knocked down a fire invoking skids and paper below the CN Railway bridge.

Cobourg Fire arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire.

Police said two individuals may have been burning the material to melt plastic off of copper wire.

The railway bridge is made of metal, but the radiant heat could have posed a risk to the railway ties on the bridge.

Two people are charged with theft, possess stolen property, arson and breach of probation.
