Cobourg Rides On-Demand Transit Service Improves Rider Pick Up Times

In City Hall

The Town of Cobourg’s Public Works Division would like to advise transit riders that as of today, seating capacity has increased to 75 percent on both the Conventional and WHEELS transit buses.

“We’ve been receiving feedback that some riders were finding it difficult at certain times of the day to book a trip with Cobourg Rides, our newly implemented on-demand transit system,” said Laurie Wills, Director of Public Works Division. “To alleviate this, we have arranged to add another bus during the high-volume period that coincides with breaks and shift changes for drivers.”

During these break periods the Town of Cobourg will be temporarily utilizing a small school bus until one of the 30-foot municipal buses returns to the road on or before August 20, 2021. Two of the Town’s 30-foot buses have undergone transmission replacements this year.”

The Cobourg Rides On-Demand Transit Service has improved its rider response times when bus drivers take lunch breaks by adding another bus on the road during those break periods. During these break periods the Town of Cobourg will be temporarily utilizing a small school bus until one of the 30-foot municipal buses returns to the road on or before August 20, 2021.

The Town of Cobourg would like to thank all transit riders for their helpful feedback as the Cobourg Rides On-Demand transit pilot project continues.
