In City Hall

From all indications, Cobourg Councillor Emily Chorley reported at this week’s council meeting, things are going well at Victoria Park beach.

The fenced off-open weekdays-closed weekend arrangement has produced no major issues, Chorley said, adding news of other municipal amenities and how they are shaping up for summer.

The splash pad is open, and the YMCA hopes to open the Centennial Pool in late June.

The boat lift-in for 2021 went smoothly, with 43 sailboats lifted in and 15 power boats launched (plus 12 boats on trailers launched by their owners).

Current provincial COVID-19 regulations allowed seasonal campers to make use of the campground this week, with more undoubtedly to come when these regulations permit.

The skateboard park will be closed all day Wednesday for concrete deck repairs.

The Cobourg Community Centre remains closed except for the vaccination clinic, but online fitness classes for seniors continue.

And looking ahead, the CCC staff have received a new ice-painting card.

“It will be great to see that in operation when the rinks are eventually open,” Chorley said.
