Exclusive – Number of People Vaccinated Vastly Lower Since HKPR District Health Unit Took Over at CCC

In Editor Choice, Local

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit has given much lower numbers of vaccines at the Cobourg Community Centre since taking over from Northumberland Hills Hospital staff last week.

Chandra Tremblay who is the Communications Manager with the health unit stated to Today’s Northumberland on Monday that, “we did run a couple of clinics last week at the Cobourg Community Centre and these two clinics included a smaller number of appointments than were available previously. This “soft launch” was done to assist in the transition as HKPRDHU assumed responsibility for the clinic.”

Premier Ford was given a tour of the vaccine clinic on March 15, 2021 and stated the clinic could pump out up to 800 vaccines a day.

Tremblay didn’t state the numbers in the e-mail, but Today’s Northumberland was told approximately 60 people were given the vaccine on the first day (Thursday) the health unit took over last week.

“The Health Unit is now operating the mass immunization clinic site at the CCC and we are aiming to immunize up to 480 people each day we are there, but this is based on the availability of vaccine.”
