Port Hope Fire Department was dispatched to smoke in a coin wash on Peter Street on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

At approximately 6:28 p.m. all three stations of the Municipality of Port Hope Fire Department responded to Port Hope Coin Laundry located at 103 Peter Street.

When fire crews arrived on scene there was heavy smoke coming from the business.

Firefighters made a quick interior attack and located the fire in the back area of the business in a room and quickly extinguished the fire.

There was minor smoke damage to the adjacent business.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown and damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.
