In Local, Police Blotter

A COVID-19 Outbreak was declared at Cobourg Police Station on Saturday, February 6, after three Cobourg Police Service (CPS) staff members tested positive for COVID-19. The facilitywide outbreak was declared by the HKPRD Health Unit, and a total of four CPS members tested positive for COVID-19.

On Thursday, February 18, the Health Unit declared the outbreak at the station over with no further COVID-19 transmission identified among staff. The affected members have returned to their respective duties.

“We are thankful for the recovery of our members and their safe and healthy return to work,” said Chief Paul VandeGraaf, Cobourg Police Service. “The end of the outbreak is a result of robust pandemic protocols and cooperation, and swift actions of all staff. Thank you to the Health Unit for their guidance and the work of the team at NHH and the NHH COVID Testing Centre who work to keep the community healthy.”

As a precaution, the station remains closed to the public until further notice.

Community members continue to be encouraged to take advantage of the online services available through the Cobourg Police Service website. An accessible phone for contacting police is still in place at the top of the accessibility ramp on the station building’s east side.
