Quinte West OPP – Charges Laid in Fatal Collision

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a fatal collision.

On January 24, 2021, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on County Road 40, just north of Telephone Road, in Trenton. The collision resulted in the death of one of the drivers, a 63 year old male from Pickering. Three people were transported to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

On January 27, 2021, following an extensive investigation by the Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, Technical Collision Investigators and Collision Reconstructionists, police arrested the other driver.
Camden JOPP, 48 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Dangerous operation causing death; and
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – causing death

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for video bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on January 28, 2021.
