Cobourg Council – Councillor Urges Everyone to Reach Out

In City Hall

Considering how happy everyone was to leave 2020 behind, Councillor Adam Bureau is surprised how rough the first days of 2021 have been – the loss of such pillars of the community as Paul Pagnuelo, Bill “Cowboy” Elliott and Alex Rutherford, plus the continuing bad news on the COVID-19 front.

Bureau hopes everyone will react by reaching out.

“Reach out to your loved ones, your friends, your family,” he urged.

“Some people live alone and they need that human contact. However you can, reach out and let them know how you feel, before they are gone and you don’t have that opportunity.

“I do know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. I know we will have our darker days, but you know what? Cobourg is awesome. We stand up, we stand strong, we stand up for one another. I am proud to be living in Cobourg and knowing all you guys.”

And if you need a lift, Bureau suggests a look at the Christmas Magic displays in Rotary Waterfront Park and Victoria Park. This year they will be up through Family Day.

Still, he said, “it’s the end of the season, and some lights have reached the end of their lives. Staff will do their best to keep the park looking as pretty as they can until Family Day.

“Also, we know squirrels do not take a break.”
