Firefighters Thank Front Line Workers One Last Time in 2020 in Alnwick/Haldimand Township

The sounds of sirens wailing throughout Alnwick/Haldimand Township on December 31, 2020 was the fire departments why of paying tribute and thanking the front line workers.

All three fire stations participated in the event which started sharply at 6 p.m.

The fire department had been doing it previously in the year, but wanted to have the apparatus parade through the township one last time before the year ended.

District Chief Rick Nelson said it was well received by the community as a number of people came out and waved and turned their lights on and off inside their homes as the emergency vehicles passed.

Nelson said a number of front line workers including medical staff, grocery store clerks and others live in Alnwick/Haldimand Township and the firefighters wanted to thank them for what they’ve gone through this year battling COVID
