In Local

A number of railway crossings were blocked in Cobourg on December 26, 2020 after an apparent malfunction with a CN train.

Several people notified Today’s Northumberland of crossings blocked on D’Arcy Street and Ontario Street at approximately 2 p.m. by a freight train.

The cause appeared to be a car carriers coupling malfunctioned or broke apart around the Sinclair Park area of Cobourg. Officials originally said the crossings would be blocked for several hours, but after separating the railway car from the train and they advised the crossings would be cleared in much less time.
