Cobourg Council – Cobourg Farmer’s Market Winds Down

In City Hall

The Cobourg Farmers’ Market is winding up its 2020 year, Councillor Adam Bureau reported at Monday’s council meeting, with a few session still remaining.

From its late and difficult opening this spring, procedures were refined in time for a wonderful summer season around the oval in the Rotary Waterfront Park, Bureau said.

That summer season officially ended Oct. 31, and the market has transitioned into winter mode across the street in the parking lot of the Market Building at 201 Second St. Winter hours mean opening an hour later than in the summer, each market running from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. through Dec. 19.

“There are 13 full-time vendors and up to four occasional vendors each week, and they host a free breast-cancer dragon-boat team fundraiser for the Ed’s House hospice,” Bureau said.

The councillor offered thanks to council and staff for recognizing the importance of the weekend markets, with a special thanks to staffers Brent Larmer and Angela Stewart for working so closely with organizers to ensure its success.
