Update – Cobourg Police – Man Charged with Dangerous Operation Following Collision

On Tuesday, September 22nd, police received reports of a vehicle driving erratically and striking multiple cars in the north area of the Town of Cobourg.

Upon arriving on the scene, police spoke with involved drivers and witnesses. They indicated that the driver of the suspect vehicle attempted to flee the scene after colliding with other cars involved.

The suspect vehicle was blocked from leaving the scene.

As a result of police investigation, 35-year-old Brian Armstrong of Cobourg was arrested at the scene and charged with the following offences:

1. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code

2. Fail to Stop at Accident contrary to section 320.16(1) of the Criminal Code

3. Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released at the scene on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.

The investigation is ongoing. Witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision are asked to please come forward.
