Brush Fire Started Believed To Have Started by Fireworks at Wicklow Beach

Northumberland OPP are investigating after Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department attended a fire believed to have started by fireworks on Sunday, June 21, 2020.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. emergency services attended the area of Wicklow Beach for reports of a brush fire.

When fire crews arrived the fire had been extinguished by the caller using sand and water.

The caller stated people were lighting off fireworks along the shoreline when shortly after he noticed the fire.

The caller gave a description and license number of the vehicle to Northumberland OPP who are continuing to investigate.
