Kawartha Lakes OPP – OPP Investigating Reports of Gun Shots

In Police Blotter

Press Release Issued at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020

On February 18, 2020 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by a representative from Scott Young Public School in Omemee after several students reported that they had heard what they believed to be gun shots in the area.

Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP attended the area to investigate. During the investigation Scott Young PS and Lady Eaton PS were placed into a hold and secure, as a precaution.

Investigation indicated that the students heard the noise while on the school grounds at approximately 8:30 this morning. Further investigation found the reported concern to be unsubstantiated and it has been deemed that there is no concern for the safety of the students. As a result, the hold and secure was lifted at both schools.
