Cobourg Police – Investigating Break and Enter Attempt

In News

Cobourg Police Service is currently investigating an early morning break and enter attempt at a local gas bar that appears to be linked to similar incidents in other jurisdictions.

On Tuesday, March 30, 2026, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a glass break alarm at a gas bar on Elgin Street West in Cobourg. Upon arrival, police observed that the front glass door had been smashed.

Video surveillance reviewed at the scene showed three male suspects arriving at the location shortly before the alarm activation in a black Ford F150 truck. The suspects used a tool to smash the glass door to gain entry but were unsuccessful, and the suspects fled the area in the vehicle.

Investigators believe this incident is connected to similar incidents in neighbouring communities, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips provided to Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
