Northumberland Nighthawks Minor Midget AA Helps Out the Salvation Army Kettle Drive

In Community, Hockey

The Northumberland Nighthawks Minor Midget AA’s, teamed up with the Salvation Army earlier this week.

The Salvation Army is a charitable organization that helps to provide hope and assistance to the most vulnerable members in our community. They are often there to meet the basic needs for children and their families, including meals, shelter and rehabilitation for those struggling with addiction.

They care for the often “overlooked” members of our community who have come to depend on their kindness and compassion during some of lifes hard times.

The Minor Midget AA team is no stranger to the Salvation Army and supporting its cause. This group of fine young citizens have joined forces year after year with the Salvation Army to offer their assistance in a variety of ways. They have helped to pack hampers, ran food and gift drives, served dinner and this year they helped to man the Christmas Kettle Drive.

The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Drive is one of their most important fundraising initiatives of the year. It is a time when the Salvation Army is most visible in the community and everyone has the opportunity to easily donate whatever increment that they can.
It also is a time when local businesses can offer their support by lending their locations as Kettle Drive sites.

Many thanks to the LCBO, Foodland and Metro for generously donating their stores again this season and for hosting the Nighthawks last night. And a big thank you to all of you for generously filling each of their kettles!

As a member of our community, a NMHA Executive and most importantly as a Mom, I am tremendously proud of this team and ALL of our Nighthawk teams that have and continue to embrace the community spirit that we pride ourselves on.

Being a part of a hockey team has so many benefits, but arguably, none more important than the class and character that the players develop towards themselves, their teammates and their community.

Thank you all for everything that you do!
