The preliminary inquiry of a Brampton man facing charges in connection with a double fatal collision on Highway 401 in 2017 wrapped up in Cobourg Court on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

Baljinder Singh, 56, of Brampton, is facing charges of two counts of dangerous driving causing death and two counts of causing death by criminal negligence on Highway 401 near Port Hope in August 2017.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 shortly after 10 p.m. on August 3.

The collision happened between a transport truck and a number of other vehicles including a pickup truck all which burst into flames.

Two relatives, Todd Gardiner (age 26) of Newcastle and his cousin, Michael Glazier (age 35) of Guelph were traveling together in the pickup truck when they were killed in the fiery collision.

They were on their way to a family reunion when the collision occurred.

Each time Singh has appeared in court, approximately 20 family members of the men were in court. Each one wearing a shirt with the photos of both men.

Due to a publication ban, no evidence can be publicized from the hearing.

Singh walked out of court with his lawyer David Locke by his side.

The next court date for Singh is in December.
