(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Thursday November 14, 2019 at approximately 12:45 pm members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Friendly Acres Road near Fleming Bay Road. Police located the white Chevrolet commercial van that had entered the ditch and collided with a tree. Upon speaking with the driver, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) was administered resulting in a “fail”. Sean LEBLANC (age 48) of Port Hope, Ont ario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontairo Court of Justice in Cobourg on January 15, 2020.
(CRAMAHE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday November 17, 2019 at approximately 11:20 pm police received a traffic complaint involving a grey Toyota SUV travelling eastbound on Highway 401. The vehicle was described as travelling at inconsistent speeds, swerving and unable to maintain travelling in a marked lane. Officers located the vehicle and stopped it east of Big Apple Drive. Steve GEORGIOU (age 74) of Oshawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on January 8, 2020.
The Northumberland OPP would like to remind drivers that failing to provide a suitable sample of breath upon an officers demand carries the same consequences as ‘Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs’, and ‘Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)’.
(MUNCIPALITY OF PORT HOPE, ON) – Shortly after 5:30 am on Thursday November 21, 2019 officers received a report of a white Kia sedan that drove off the roadway into a field at the intersection of Sylvan Glen Road and Dale Road. As a result of the investigation Shawn Christopher TIMLECK (age 44) of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Driving while under suspens i on (2 counts)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on December 24, 2019.
All three accused additionally received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicles they were operating were towed and impounded for 7 days.
The OPP remains committed to enforcing impaired driving laws and educating road users about the dangers posed by motorists who drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
