Approximately 2,000 people came out as Cobourg was turned into a Winter Wonderland on Friday, November 22, 2019 with the 24th season of Christmas Magic.

Christmas Magic kicked off with a ‘Lighting Up Ceremony’ at 6:30 p.m. as people gathered around the grand Victoria Hall on King Street.

Members of Victoria Operetta Society and Northumberland Players helped bring in the spirit with Christmas songs.

Victoria Hall was turned into a ‘Winter Wonderland’ by Town of Cobourg’s Maintenance staff who have been working on the project since September.

After the lights were  turned on at Victoria Hall, Santa led the way and it was off to Victoria Park where over 180,000 Christmas lights were lit up through the park and bandshell.

In addition to the many trees lit in Victoria Park a 30-foot Christmas tree will shine with over 3,000 lights, creating a beautiful landmark glittering in the evening darkness.

Everyone was encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank in exchange for a lighted candle from the Cobourg Police Service.
