In Editor Choice, Local

A woman has been airflifted to a Toronto trauma centre after she was run over by an SUV at No Frills on Division Street in Cobourg on November 4, 2019.

One witness told Today’s Northumberland the woman was making her way into the store by the cross walk when an SUV struck the woman at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The front drivers side wheel apparently ran over the woman’s legs. The SUV stopped just prior to the back wheel running completely over her and the witness said bystanders yelled at the driver to back up to free the trapped leg.

The woman driver of the SUV was distraught as emergency workers tended to the victim who was conscious.

The front area of No Frills has been cordoned off with police tape, but customers can enter the store that remains open.

Ontario Provincial Police Technical Traffic Collision Investigators have been called in to investigate the scene.

The victim was transported by air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre. Her condition remains unknown.
