Cobourg Police – Male Arrested for Unauthorized Use of Credit Card

On Sunday, the 25th day of August, 2019, police responded to a report of a theft of a wallet from the downtown core. Investigation revealed that the complainant’s debit card was later used at a downtown business to complete a transaction. As a result, Matthew Lewis, 30, of no fixed address was identified, arrested, and charged with the following offences:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code x4 – Unauthorized use of Credit Card contrary to section 342(1)(c) of the Criminal Code

Lewis was subsequently released with a Promise to Appear and Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date.
