As protection-services co-ordinator, Councillor Aaron Burchat shared fire-department and building-department statistics at this week’s Cobourg council meeting.

For the year to date, as of the end of May, the fire department has responded to 685 incidents, held 179 training sessions and participated in 150 fire-prevention activities.

For the month of May, the building department has issued 28 permits with a construction value of more than $2.1-million, bringing in about $61,000 in revenues to the department. For the year to date as of May’s end, the building department has issued 209 permits (48 of them dwelling units) with a construction value of more than $17.8-million, bringing in more than $232,000 in revenues to the department.
