Peterborough County OPP – Marine Patrol

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment Marine Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on county waterways this past weekend. Officers laid 18 charges for the following infractions:

  • Lifejacket related- 7 charges
  • Liquor Licence Act- 8 charges
  • Speeding- 1 charge
  • Fishing related- 1 charge
  • Impaired driving- 1 charge

The Peterborough County OPP Marine Unit will be on the water everyday this summer and want to remind all vessel operators that they need to check that they have on board sufficient life jackets for every person(s) on board and required safety equipment prior to leaving the shore.
