Breaking News – OFM Called In To Investigate Explosion At Gas Station In Colborne

In Local

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office are investigating the cause of an explosion and fire at the Ultramar gas bar in Colborne on May 23, 2019.

Cramahe Township Fire Department received the call for an explosion and fire at the gas bar located at Big Apple Drive and County Road 25 at approximately 7:10 a.m.

The clerk told Today’s Northumberland while he was working he heard an explosion from the basement. When he opened the basement door there were smoke and flames visible.

Interim Fire Chief Tim Burgess said when fire crews arrived they could see flames in the basement.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly.

“We’re thankful there was nobody in the structure. They did leave, a conscientious employee did shut the pumps off before leaving.”
The employee was shaken from the incident but uninjured.

Because there was an explosion, the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is called to help determine what caused the explosion and fire.
