Town Crier Rings In Another Year For Cobourg Farmer’s Market

Town Crier Mandy Robinson opened up this year’s Cobourg Farmer’s Market on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
The market is located just south of Albert Street behind Victoria Hall and operates from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Saturday.

“Mi’Lords, Mi’Ladies, good citizens of Cobourg and all who would be present on this fine morning.
Let it be known that upon this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord twenty hundred and nineteen, that this fair town of Cobourg did celebrate the annual opening of its’ Farmers Market.”

The market was established in 1839 making it one of the oldest markets in Ontario.
“Vendors offer locally grown delectables in many varieties including certified organic products. So come one and all, tempt your taste buds, enjoy a guaranteed edible experience that will not disappoint,” said Robinson.

 

Robinson, Mayor John Henderson, Councillor Adam Bureau and vendor Chris Marcucci from Cedar Hedge Farm cut the carrot cake during the opening festivities.

Entertaining for the kick off of the market was Nayah Livah and on guitar was Carl Cotton.
There were approximately 1,200 vendors came out on Saturday to look over the fresh produce and delicacies of 41 vendors.
